The Anatomy of Conflict: How to Triage Tension and Turn Friction into Connection

High-functioning teams don't avoid tension, they triage it.

In this humorous storytelling, interactive keynote, Adrianna brings the grit and grace of an ER nurse to your audience. She teaches leaders at every level how to stop panicking when tensions run high and start systematically sorting the problem. By breaking down the components of a high-stress conversation, The Anatomy of Conflict, Adrianna gives your audience the exact tools to de-escalate friction and protect your culture.

Because generic advice doesn't survive in high-stakes environments, Adrianna interviews members of your organization beforehand to weave your specific realities, goals, and challenges directly into the presentation.

C-Suite & Planner ROI (Audience Takeaways):

The Anatomy of Conflict Resolution Framework: A rapid-response framework to assess and navigate any tough conversation before it escalates.

Behavioral Decoding: Understand exactly how body language, word choice, and environmental safety make or break a productive conversation.

Immediate Application: Attendees leave with absolute confidence and a pocket-sized protocol to use in their very next high-stakes conversation.

Continuing Education: CE eligible for clinical and professional audiences (CNE, CME, PDU, etc.).

Workshops, Webinars & Deep Dives (Available as 1-hour breakouts to multi-day immersive events, fully customized to your team)

To create systemic change, Adrianna structures her training around the timeline of a healthy culture: Prevent, Triage, and Repair. Each topic is available as a 1-hour workshop, and they can be combined to fit your team's needs.

Phase 1: PREVENT (Do No Harm)

The foundational oath in healthcare is to do no harm, yet leaders accidentally "injure" their teams all the time by shutting down ideas or reacting poorly to bad news. You can't ask a team to innovate, take risks, or navigate friction if they are constantly bracing for impact. These sessions focus on stripping away ego and building the foundational psychological safety required for a high-performing team.

Psychological Safety: An intentional intrapersonal and interpersonal dialogue to create a resilient, human-centered culture.

Boundary Setting for Career Longevity: How frontline staff and leaders can prevent burnout and protect their energy without compromising patient or client care.

Phase 2: TRIAGE (Managing the Crisis)

When friction occurs, leaders don't have time to guess—they need to act. These sessions dive deep into the real-time mechanics of difficult human behavior.

Conflict Management: Real-time de-escalation techniques for the heat of the moment.

Navigating the Tough Conversation: Scripting, body language, and emotional regulation for high-stakes interactions.

Phase 3: REPAIR (The Clear Handoff)

In healthcare, the most dangerous moment for a patient is the handoff between shifts: if communication isn't crystal clear, mistakes happen. The same is true for feedback and tough conversations in any industry. Unclear or overly aggressive communication creates confusion and drops the ball. These sessions teach leaders how to properly close the loop.

Conflict Resolution: Moving from a state of friction back to a state of alignment and mutual respect.

Accepting and Providing Feedback: The "Boardroom Bedside Manner" required to deliver precise, clean, and direct feedback that helps your people heal and grow.

Workshop Takeaways:

Zero Fluff: Your team leaves with tactical, ER-tested skills they can apply the moment they walk out the door.

Turnkey Value: All workshops are CE-eligible (CNE, CME, PDU, etc.), adding massive built-in value for your attendees' licensure and professional development.

Cultural Alignment: Programs don't just teach skills; they actively foster camaraderie, breaking down silos between individuals, departments, and management tiers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Conflict sounds like a heavy topic, how do you lighten it up?

I get it, conflict is a heavy topic because the surrounding situation carries big emotions like anxiety, anger, apprehension, and even fear. It's my job to create a space safe enough to move through the emotions towards problem solving. I do this through humor, storytelling, and demonstrating what safe vulnerability can look like.

Is Adrianna the right speaker for my organization?

My style is described as authentic, humorous, and engaging. I'm not the type of speaker who pops in before the event and leaves right after presenting. I love people so I prioritize relationships: I get to know your team (from AV to C Suite) beforehand, customize the presentation, and stay afterwards to close the loop on questions that pop up.

Deadlines aren't a problem, I honor timelines in nursing and do the same for you and your team.

What does it cost to hire you?

Investment points range for each type of presentation: in-person keynote, webinar, workshop, and coaching. Factors like travel, customization, and CE addition affect pricing.

I'd be happy to speak with you and your team directly so I can best serve your organization. Please book a call, send an email to [email protected], or call (720) 794-5445.

How many presentations until I see results?

I've had 30 minute speed coaching sessions that yielded tremendous breakthroughs, 1 hour presentations on conflict management that people talk about for years afterwards, and ongoing workshops that yield high ROI for leadership teams.

Every presentation and coaching engagement starts with clearly outlining your goals, I help with this, to ensure you meet them. I only want success for you and your team. That clarity will help you get there faster than you'd think.

What is Ogden Peak?

Ogden Peak is a registered trademark of Adrianna Munoz LLC. The name, "Ogden" comes from a street in Chicago, IL. I drove up and down it for years as a child and through nursing school; it carries memories of childhood and professional development. "Peak" comes from my time in Colorado. I moved to Colorado with my husband in February 2020, right before the pandemic (eek!), and was very lucky with the timing. We love hiking and being outside.

Hence, Ogden Peak was born! It's a throwback to my time growing up and what I love today: nursing, people, and recharging outside. These threads are things I incorporate into every engagement, and I'm lucky to share it with individuals and teams I serve.

How does an ER nurse end up as a coach and on stage?

I was asked to speak at a Colorado state-wide emergency nurses education conference during the COVID-19 pandemic on burnout and moral distress, the audience response was overwhelmingly positive. I received much anonymous feedback that sounded like, "I will go back to therapy," and "I will check in on my team more." I realized that real positive change can be made from stage.

Now, after years of managing union professionals as a non-union leader, I've found that my ER conflict management skills translate to any tension-heavy conversation. These skills and a love of people have helped me find myself on stages across the United States.

I'm not the decision-maker, how can I hire you?

I'm honored you'd like to partner to serve your people. Please reach out by emailing [email protected] or text (720) 794-5445 so I can learn more about what you're looking for. I make it easy to introduce me to people on your team.

What is Tension Triage?

Tension Triage is the framework I speak, coach, and consult to. Tension happens in every team, every organization, and inside of our own brains. I've found that the best way to handle it is by regulating ourselves first, then we can approach people to problem solve. Tension Triage is based on Lean Methodology, Lewin's Change Theory, and therapeutic communication.

In each engagement I make sure the concepts apply to you and your work so you walk away from any tension with a plan.

Do you coach people and teams?

Yes, I am a certified leadership and executive coach. I've worked with professionals in various industries including healthcare, engineering, technology, and finance. I do one-on-one and small group coaching that's available in person or virtually to help you meet your leadership goals.

Common coaching topics include:

-Conflict management

-Conflict resolution

-Boundary setting

-Negotiation

-Navigating tricky people

-Providing and accepting feedback

-Imposter syndrome
